Wouldn't I see a drop in coolant level and a stain on my driveway(I park in the same spot everyday) if there was a leak? Even in the spot where I park at work...nothing.

I just talked to a service advisor at the dealership and he said that they do not put any scents or additives in the oil. He also said that all they do is change the oil and filter and lube the front shaft. He said just to swing by and they will check it out....more later.

Well, I went to the dealer and a tech came out and smelled my truck. He checked around and also didnt find any leaks. He did say that he also smelled the "sweet" odor, but he didnt have a definitive answer for me. He said it was nothing to worry about and that it was just oils and such burning off of the new motor. I have 4K on the truck now, and I do remember the burning of oil smell when I first got it, but that went away at approx. 900 miles. Oh well, I'm just gonna watch for any leaks and just forget about it....Thanks to all for all your suggestions.

Sodium Bicarb and 40-60ml of 86 proof whiskey takes care of the antifreeze poisoning...

Thats good to know, but like I said, I prefer tranny fluid. I think it goes better with meat and fish.

No, they didnt ever take the truck into the shop. He just crawled under it in the parking lot. He said "No leaks, then nothing to worry about".

To be honest, I think that the odor is more like a tranny fluid odor. I sniffed around and smelled all the fluids and it matches up with what the tranny fluid smells like. But what gets me is that there are no leaks anywhere(dont get me wrong, I dont want any). Why would I smell tranny fluid when there are no leaks and the dipstick still shows full????Any help with this one?

Could the dealer have sprayed something on the belt.

Maybe they sprayed some Belt Dressing on the belt because it made a loud CHIRP noise when they shut the motor off.

I dont know, I asked them about that and they said that they dont do that. Who knows...The truck never had that chirp at shutoff. The odor is very noticable, more than if it was just belt spray.

Maybe I'm making too much out of this, but last night the odor seemed to be alot more noticable. I did check the tranny fluid and it was showing low on the dipstick, but still within the safe zone. Im just gonna keep checking all the fluid levels and hope its just something stupid.

why not just wash the motor and the radiator / overflow area,

and then see if it comes back.

an old submarine analogy:
if you find a leak - it's not a problem,
if a leak finds you - you got a problem.

i'd drive it thru the quarter squirter & hose it off to see if comes back,
leave it running, and hit the belts too.

Had a cat get up next to my block and pipe one time to get warm. Well, he did!
took a pressure washer to get rid of him. Had that smell for a long time.

Make sure your ac compressor isn't running then your fan won't be locked....

then you probably won't chirp
