I have a 2005 Dodge 3500. I was changing the oil today, removed the Fleetguard LF16035 filter expecting the usual oil mess, I was surprised to find the filter was less than half full of used oil. This may be the first time I have used the StrataPore filter. No oil leaks, the engine does not use any oil. Anyone know what is going on?

 

Absolutely normal, oil returning to the sump after shut downs draws down the filter. Your good to go.

 

x2... not an issue unless you enjoy oil running down your arm...
As a side note, the old plastic bag trick is by far the easiest way to not get oil on you when changing the filter...

Let it sit overnight and it will happen every time.

I try to get mine up to normal temp and then shut it down and let it sit for about 20 to 30 minutes and the filter is down about 1 inch and never a mess.

 

Yeah try doing that when you have 10 people waiting for their oil change to be done in 30 minutes or less. welcome to the real world.
