Red fluid leak coming from somewhere.

I have an 06 quad cab that i just got, 4x4 6spd manual and i was up north snowmobiling this past weekend and the guy whos house that i parked at called me today and said that there was a large red spot on his driveway in the snow where my truck was parked. My truck was parked on a slight incline. I just went out side and looked under my truck and noticed a couple of random red spots in the snow but not in once certain area. I crawled under the truck and looked everything over and noticed notihng out of the ordinary, everything looked dry around transfer case and transmission. Did not notice anything under the hood area and the coolant bottle was just under the full mark. Are there any other places to check, are there any known issues where these trucks might leak coolant or trans fluid. Truck has 32K miles on it and if there is an issue i want to get it under warranty before it runs out, thanks for the help.

I can think of only 2 red fluids , coolant & trans fluid .
For the coolant , using a pressure tester is how I have found cooling system leaks .
But you need to find some sign of leaking in order to start looking .

If there is some in the snow, smell it. That atf+4 tranny fluid has a pretty distinct smell. T-case also has red atf+4. On the g56 tranny, if its not coming from a loose drain plug on the bottom or fill plug on pass. side, i've heard of the shift boot around the stick leaking on top. On t-case i would look at front drive shaft seal. If it is tranny fluid i would check the level before i drive it. 14mm allen i think for that fill plug on pass. side. Should be at or above bottom of fill hole.

If its coolant, pressure test as said above.

Yes it's read, and I would bet good money that the fluid your seeing is from the rubber hose on the Passenger side of the block behind the turbo. The clamps are known to work loose and many have had this same problem. Just look to the left of the oil filter along the block. There will be a short hose there.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Look at hose clamps right rear side behind turbo.

X2 on that....I also had a leak that I traced to the short length of hose behind the turbo...just tighten up the clamps a bit.

Supposed to use HOAT coolant. I know you can get some other than the pinkish red stuff from the dealer, but i think its yellow (Zerex G-05 I believe from NAPA). Don't know of any HOAT coolant that is green but i'm not sure. Do a search for "HOAT coolant" and there was a recent thread on this issue. I don't think its an urgent issue, green stuff just doesn't last as long i guess...

06 always leak from the little red hose that others posted. Between block and turbo. There are several threads on this. Just tighten it up

thanks for the reply, i will check that hose in the morning before i go to work. There was plenty of coolant in the overflow bottle and everything under the truck looked bone dry, ie the transfer case, transmission ect. On my 01 the transfer case drain plug was a little loose once but the one on this truck is not. Thanks for the help.

Update

I tightened up the two hose clamps that are around the small piece of rubber hose near the turbo. It is about 2 or 3 inches long and it has some foil heat tape around it. They were not real loose but i was able to tighten them up some. The other thing that i have noticed is that it seems to only leak fluid when i have the trucked plugged in at night because in the morning i notice a little bit of what i think is antifreeze because it is sticky when it dries on my fingers and does not smell like any type of tranny fluid. I can drive to work which is about 45 miles away and it will sit all day for and not leak anything. If i leave the truck unplugged at night, there is no sign of any leaks in the morning either which makes me think that plugging the truck in causes it to leak. I dont know if the antifreeze is circulated differently when the truck is plugged in vs when it is running. Thanks for the hlep
