Lift pump

Truck was in for lift pump replacement a couple of weeks ago. I was suprised that I was charged $100 for warranty deductable due to the fact that dodge is aware of the problem with original lift pump. So, I called dodge hot line in hopes of having deductable waived. No such luck. I was told that because this is not a recall issue that it could not be waived.

What have others done to get out of paying deductable for this issue?

Thanks...Rick

The lift pump is covered under the 5yr/100k mile engine warranty. If you're within the warranty period go get your money back.

Dealers try this all the time. Get your money back and get a free oil change for your trouble. Get after them.

Tell us how many miles you have, but I agree if your less than 100k you should get your money back + .

If you find out that they are indeed wrong, tell them to F.O. and find another dealer. Not sure where in So Cal you are, but there's gotta be another one close by. Mine went out last week at 18K miles and didn't cost me a dime (and they know I have a Quad XZT).

I have to defend some of the dealerships on this. If they have an inexpieranced person on the computer when they punch in the pump replacement it comes up as needing the $100 deductible.
In the future I would ask to see the spread sheet for coverage for the year of diesel you have. This will force them to actually search for the particular truck.

It is an over sight by many dealerships.

When I had mine done they charged me the $100.00 I asked about it and they said it was becasue I was over the 3/36. I still think it is BS and they chared me $86 to get the high Idle activated also.

Rick you have been had. The lift pump is covered by the Cummins 7/100k warranty after the 3/36k expires. There is no deductible if the truck is under 5 years old. The $100 deductible does apply after the truck is five years old. This information is in the owners (warranty) manual and on the Cummins website. Get your money back.

Thanks all of you for your information. After explaining to dealership what "their" warranty procedure was (cummins warranty before drivetrain warranty) a check is in the mail to me for the paid deductable. I am now $100 closer to a Kore suspension. Even the wife couldn't argue with that one.

This is the place for quality diesel information.
