Lift pump on a 03

Hey guy's I think the lift pump on the truck is failing because anytime I go to put a load on it ,it falls on it's face around 2000 rpms and rpms won't go up after that, you have to back out of the throttle and let the fuel catch up it seems like .I tried the fuel filter in a last ditch effort no change (didn't think it would help but was time to change it anyway) in driving.I don't have a code, I'm looking around to find a pressure gauge to check the cp-3 ,also the lift pump sounds pretty rough and when first turned on for the Wts light the pump just runs and runs and doesn't shut off like it isn't building enough pressure.I was just wondering if anyone else has had symptoms like this with there truck.

My raptor 100 came preset from them @ 15psi, according to my fuel pressure gauge. I take the reading @ the inlet of the CP3. You can adjust pressure if you want on with a wrench & screwdriver. Nice thing with the 100, hook the 1/2 hose to the supplied dorman fitting, clips to the tank outlet. There is no return line to mess with. Unless you have a intank fuel pump updated by a dealer? If so you will need an old style fuel cannister.

Han Solo pretty much nailed it.

Took me about two hours to install with simple hand tools. Here's a trick to help get the hoses onto the Parker Pushlok fittings. Either soak the ends of the hoses in hot water or use a hot air gun before pressing on. Makes it a whole lot easier.

My '03 lift pump failed a couple of years ago. Dealers kept telling me it was the Edge unit I installed. Wrong. Put it on a dyno and when loaded with 10K pounds on a 6 percent incline, fuel pressure went to zero. Put in-tank pump in it and have not had any fuel problems since. Another one of those Dodge knows about it but won't make it a recall item.

You said you have a cannister mounted lift pump? Its not on the motor anymore? If its been up dated, & put into the tank, you will need to get an old fuel cannister from a 03/04.5. Glacier sells them. From what I have read, cant have the stock fuel pump in the tank. They sell used ones for $100bucks, comes clean & checked out. Dealer doesnt sell them anymore. Good tip MikeyB about the holes, there a bear to get on. Im not going to get into the removing air issue. I just wanted a good pump, without a standpipe & the 1/4 tank issues. Dont ever plan to break into the 600hp club. So thats why I went with the Raptor 100. Run the supplied 1/2 hose from the tank to the raptor, then to the backside of the stock fuel filter. Then put on a secondary fuel filter @ 2micron, its inbetween the stock housing & the CP3, where I get fuel pressure from. I dont like the fuel filters under the truck, behind the transfercase. Thats why I didnt go with the air dog, but thats just me. The airdog is likely a awesome setup, but I got a smoking deal on the Raptor.

It's the one on the engine,it sounds easy enough to do now to get the truck in the garage will it hurt the cp3 if I fill the fuel filter and try and drive it to the garage ?I would like to take to my Dads the heated garage would make it nice .

Your laughing then if the pump is on the engine. If your small enough, you could wiggle under the box, & get to the top of the tank. Unhook the supply line, then hook up the dorman fitting that goes in the kit & then run the fuel line to the raptor/engine. Dont know about your problem thou, cant say how far it would go.
