High Idle
High Idle
I had the dealer activate the high idle feature through the cruise control. When they first did it a couple months ago I could increase the idle starting at 1000 rpms by pressing the set button. Now it will only increase to 1000 rpms and won't go any higher. Any suggestions??? I'm going to stop at the dealer tomorrow and see what they say. Pete
For your info to use the high idle turn the cruise on and hit set and it will go to 1100 rpm and then you can use the res/accel to raise the rpm and the coast button to lower it.
Hope this helps.

Look at the top of this screen. You will see a button marked "Articles". It's between Member Photos and LInks. Click on that. Go down the screen a ways. You'll see a listing for enabling the high idle feature. Click on that. It will bring up a copy of the TSB on the feature. You could print that off or just make a note of the number. Your dealer "should" be able to bring it up.

also, these trucks have a high idle feature built into them. if they are at idle for a few mins it will automaticly go to 1000rpm. You might think its the manual high idle feature. If the auto one activated, you cannot change its RPM range.
It's my understanding that this type high idle only works during cold temps, I think, below 32F. The manually controlled one can be used any time.
