Question High Temp High Idle

Yesterday, I was arranging the fifth wheel on its slab, it took two attempts to get it where I wanted it. Anyway, the temp rose to about 210-215 (stock gauges) in the process, when I shifted into park the engine idled up to about 1000-1100 just like when it does under cold conditions, but it would not let me disengage it. I've never had this happen before, I'm sure this is normal, but would like some of your takes on this. Is it normal?

The truck raised the rpm's up to push more coolant through. But usually only does that when the truck reaches over 225*.

Thanks, it probably was that high considering the position of the needle on the stock gauge in the truck. One day I'm going to install better gauges in the ole girl. The truck is smarter than me I guess, I appreciate the information.

Check your thermostat, or better yet just replace it. then inspect your fan clutch. it shouldn't run hot being parked like that. if anything, it will cool down a bit. unless there's an underlying issue

Well I wasn't exactly sitting still, my slab is sloped for rain run off to the point of having to install a 2x6 and a 1x6 stacked to level it off. So being I was moving it to a new spot on the pad, trying to avoid being to close to the monkey grass at the edge of the slab, I was forward and back a few times trying to get things situated just right. It just idled up as soon as I put it in park for the last time.

BTW driving in reverse raises tranny temp quickly.
