Is Driving 100% Tow-Haul a Problem?

I keep it in Two-Haul “all the time” because the shift points seem better suited to the truck the way I drive unloaded - don't tow anything…. Is there any problem with this? Will I cause any premature trans wear or breakdown?

I do run a Smarty JR @ 100% POD, but I drive very light footed and only use the power for passing acceleration when needed. I just don’t like the trans shift points in standard “drive” mode, never have. It seems like it holds shift points too long, especially going from 3rd to 4th (final shift @ 50 MPH). I’ve always driven it this way since new – now has 91K.

I drive in T/H all the time, untill I cross the 60 mph mark. Then I'll let it shift into O/D for milage. Obviously this is depending on loads, & road conditions.

Tow-haul on the '06 allows OD in 4th, so you still get fuel savings benefits. But I seem to remember reading somewhere you won't get as good of MPG using TH. However, I've never noticed a difference myself... I always average about 20 MPG - slightly better in summer, less in winter.

i run it all the time under 60MPH, anything above that i click it off for mileage. it does improve mileage for around town driving.

T/H for 80,000 miles (provided I remember to turn it on when I start the truck ).

Mileage is an interesting comment. If I am correct, T/H (at least on my 05) simply adjusts the shift points and locks the TC sooner. I get OD and lockup at 45 mph rather than 50 mph with it off. I like the TC locked and would think not slipping the TC and wasting energy would be more efficient.
