Well i got the word today from my service advisor, there ins approved a new longblock and turbo plus seals, fluids and whatever else they need. Its is only going to cost them 15900$ plus the cost of a rental for the next 2 to 3 weeks while they wait for parts also need to add cost to repair or whatever they need to do to the rear brakes as they were covered in oil also. It funny this all could have avoided it the dealer wasnt so greedy and and gave me a little more for my truck in trade or atleast guarantee my dodge warranty. My adviser called me yesterday and told me they were trying to push an engine out of an 02 he explained to them that i would not accept a used engine and it would void my warrant. It probly also helped that we also told or dealer if they wanted to keep our buisness they would help make this rite and not cut any corners. This is still costing me a few hundred dollars in attorneys fees plus the cost of fuel to buy feed weekly as nissan has no gooseneck. Too expensive to have it delivered. Hopefully soon this will just be a bad memory.

Horsepoor68, I think finally you have a good deal. Your dealership is a standup dealership for helping you recover from the other dealer. I'm so happy to hear that this is near a positive end for you.....I had my truck down for 10 days or so when I finally toasted the tranny and that was painful. We've all be livin your anguish, but thank goodness its near done. Best of luck. ks

Glad to see that it is getting done for you. Before you accept the vehicle back in your posession or sign the paperwork make sure you:
1. Go over the invoice in detail and have it state that you will have your warranty in tack. I would make sure that it stated how a lack of oil caused engine bearing damage, turbo damage etc. etc. Not just stating what they did to fix it. This would help in any future problems that could be caused by a lack of lubrication condition to those parts that they did not replace this time around. That dealership could change hands tomarrow or everyone you just worked with could be gone by the time you need something major done again and if it is not printed on the invoice it could become a problem or at least slow things down. If not have them reprint it immediatly. Most dealer software will not allow a change of verbage on the invoice once the invoice is posted and this can happen minutes if not seconds after you sign it at the cashiers window.
2. Check your vehicle thouroghly for dents, dings and parking lot damage from porters moving/driving cars around it. I have seen it happen too often and best to catch it now then when you are handwashing it a week from now.
3. Double check all fluid levels with your advisor before you leave. This gives you a chance to look at the workmanship and point anything of concern out to the advisor.
4. If you are happy with the way that this dealership took care of you let them know it with a thank you and a good CSI (customer satisfaction rating) Most people only fill out CSI cards when they are unhappy and don't realize that CSI is one of many ways that the service department's pay is based upon.
Hope this helps you and good luck!

I am pleased you kept us posted. This is a great example of how forums like this can be helpful. It certainly has been a learning experience and helpful to others who may one day find themselves in a similar situation.

Hopefully I will have my truck next Friday. I also asked them if they could put 50 to a 100 miles on it before they gave it back to make sure everything is ok. Its going back to work after the holliday 200 miles a dayround trip to the job Im doing. Plus I am having them install an EGt probe in manifold since it will be torn down. I have it post turbo now.

Home again
Well we finally picked the truck up last nite after 2 months of waiting. All seems well we hooked up our flatbed this morning to pick up a load of feed truck seems to be alright. we put a little over 300 hundred miles on it today with trailer in tow. The only thing is that terrible smell of a new rebuilt engine. Plus they did a terrible job of cleaning the under side of the truck but some times if you want it done rite you have to do it yourself, like oil changes haha. Total bill was 17,600 for motor and turbo plus extras. Again thanks for all the replies. John

Hi John, glad to hear you got it back. 2 months down that could of been 2 weeks if the first guy was not such a jerk. I hope you skin some pain and suffering money from the jerks.
