BFG AT KO's. Air pressuer = DW?

I just bought a digital air pressure guage and noticed that my passenger side front tire was at 39 PSI and the front drivers side was at 38.5 PSI. On the sidewall it says they should be at 50 PSI. My question is this, whill this contribute to death wobble? TIA, Dave.

no, alot of people including me run them lower than speck. it is a little softer on the ride. usually its at 44-46 psi though. I dont think that is an easy fix for it though. I bet if you come check my psi it is lower than yours.

Yeah, but higher air pressure gives you better MPG!

That #50 psi means do not inflate any more than that! It's not the psi you are to run in them. Look inside your driver door, a tag there will tell you proper psi to run.

But that's with the stock tires. You need to try different air pressures until you find one that works. I run mine around 45 psi.

The only DW incident I had in almost 60,000 miles with BFG 315s was partly caused by the tires with 35psi air in them. There were other contributing conditions, but with the tires underflated it was bad. That was about 7,000 miles and after that the tires had 48-50psi in the front from that point on and never another DW issue.

On my first gen I tried running BFGs at lower pressures, and got some steering slop, it wasn't death wobble but it would wander some on the road. I run 52 psi in my BFGs on my 2nd gen

A combination of errors and stupidity. The guys that balanced and rotated the tires had the wrong psi on the slip, confused with another truck and lowered psi to around 34-35psi. The Rancho steering stabilizer was the wrong part #, and did not have a tapered bushing on the connecting end. This caused just a little play. I in my infinite wisdom I lowered the Rancho 9000xs to soft level 4 because I was taking my 80+ year old parents on short trip. Thought it would make the ride easier. Just enough combination with the heavy 315s and chrome clad wheels to start a DW on the freeway at 70+mph that almost nuked a Mustang. The tires started bouncing so hard opposite timing they both came off the road. Bent both steering stabilizer link rods. The road curved and I went straight for a while. Had to stop completely to calm things down.

After that I had the complete front end checked, no alignment or other problems. Put correct steering stabilizer shock on, new link rods, aired up the tires to 48-50psi, put the Ranchos back to level 7 and never had another problem. Put 58,000 miles on that combo with no other issues.

I was going to ask how you can stand running the fronts that low, but I saw you raised it up.

I had D rated 315's on my truck, and I hated how they looked like they were constantly low on air, I ran them at max pressure, and they wore great, but always looked low.

anyhow, I got new tires, and what I do is always feel the tread with your hand after driving a while... if its warm in the center and cool on the edges, drop the pressure, etc.

I just got new shoes on the ol' girl a week or two ago, and I've been feeling the tires and adjusting the pressures a lot. I'm getting close! the fronts have felt consistant the last few times i've checked... the rears were visually wearing right (dust/dirt was even across the tread) but to the touch, the outside was a little cooler, so I dropped it another few lbs.

I have always run my 285 BFGs at the sidewall max of 65 psi. With just under 30,000 and regular rotations, they still look great will last at least 50k.

I ran my BFG 315s at 47 front / 32 rear running unloaded. I got 50,000 miles out of them, but they started to become out of round towards the end of their life.
