06 weird auto tranny problem

Hi all, I am having a weird problem with my 06 auto tranny in my cummins deisel 2500 pickup. When the tranmissions cold ex(in mornin or after sitting a few hrs) I can drive it but it well not shift from first to second till it warms up or untill i drive the truck a half a mile or more. When the tranny does finally shift to second it works fine in every gear untill i let it cool down again. I took it to dodge and got the codes checked ,, they said i needed a new speed sensor which I put in ,, this did not cure the problem ,, and with winter comming this is getting a little annoying,, any suggestions would be appreciated. I currently have 230 000 kms on it and it has never done this before, it well also shift hard from second to third when it is warming up,, anyone have any ideas??????

1st to 2nd shift solenoid is more than likely malfunctioning. Mine does the same thing, except 2nd to 3rd. BTW, it doesn't throw any codes when they malfunction.

A 48RE has no shift solenoids except for OD, the other shifts are all hydraulic.

Could be a sticky shift valve or more likely the infamous gov solenoid and/or transducer. Start with those then dig deeper if needed.

The transducer is the pressure sensor portion of the gov circuit. The solenoid sets the pressure, the transducer tells the ECU what it is. Its a toss up which one is the culprit when problems start.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Generally recomend both solenoid and transducer, as diagnois is very unreliable in determining which is acting up. Price you paid seems very good when compared to our double nets and plus 20% or more.

update ,, tonight i pulled the pan , and surprizingly for a truck with 234 thousand kms (146000 miles) the oil was extremely clean,, no filings on magnet in pan etc,, so i changed the gov solenoid and transducer on the valve body and also threw in a new filter,, added 6 litres (quarts) of oil and parked it out side and let it cool down for a hr,,, the trans seems to be shifting normal now ,, and if it does tommorrow am,, then i know its fixed for sure ,, if not, i well repost,, i would like to thanx all of you for your help , p.s. i do not baby my truck and these miles are based on one hr or shorter trips, so now the front end is done and front brakes and tranny issues solved ,, but rear discs started squeaking tonight lol ,,, time to check them ,, I just hope this post helps save some one else any aggrevation ,, thanx agian > yada
