'06 High idle

I've got an '06 quad 4X4 auto and a question about the high idle set with the cruise control. I took it in last week for a flash and to have the high idle enabled but it still doesn't work. Is this feature dependant upon the ambient temperature? I'm in Southern California right now but I can't stay here forever. Thanks in advance.

If the feature was enabled, it should work no matter what the temp is outside. I'd take it back to the dealer and have them redo it and then demonstrate it for you that it is done. When I had my enabled I sat there in the truck while the tech did it.....and then tested it. Just takes a minute to do it.

No, as long as it is enabled, you can engage it regardless of ambient temp.
Turn cruise on then press set, it should set idle to 1,100rpm, then you can use the accell button to raise the idle from there if you wish.

Dad had to try it in the lot before he left. They kept telling him that they did it and then they fessed up and told him that the high idle was standard and that it would do it automatically under 50 degrees. I told him to go back and tell them it was the manual control with the cruise. They went around the shop and finally the parts guy came out and knew what the deal was. Embarrassed a whole lot of techs that day.

At least someone knew how. I am having my A/C worked on and requested it be done to my truck. They said they have never done one but will call Star if they can't figure it out.

Also help keep the AC frosty cold in the summer, while waiting for the wife!

Mostly, I use it to cool the exhaust before shutdown.

If it was me I would forget having Star research it. They don't seem to know any thing about it. I know the following steps work thru 2005 model year, not sure iof there were changes for 06 or not. Have them look and try it. nothing to loose. Tell your dealer service personel to look at TSB 18-004-04 and after getting into the DRB scan tool to follow directions from step 3. Dealer Techs only need to enable it, not reflash it if it is an 04.5 or later.

Step 3 reads:

engine in run position using DRBIIIT select:

a. DRBIII standalone
b. 1998-2004 diagnostics
c. All (Except below)
d. Engine
e. Misc Function (at end of list second page)
f. Idle up feature Enable/Disable (Enable to work)
g. Follow the on screen directions to finish.

Then disconnect. Start truck hit cruise on and set, idle should ramp up to about 1100 RPM. Increase should raise rpm by 100 RPM and decrease should lower it by 100 RPM each click. Touching brake, shift lever or accelerator will turn it off.
