wondering

I have replaced ball joints, tie rods, sway bar links and bushings and shocks all is new. Had new tires and an alignment done Saturday. However the vehicles still wonders back and forth in my lane.

I should however get better mileage since the tow was out 3/16 drivers side and 5/16 on the passenger.

Any ideas on the wondering?

thanks

Trac Bar?

Toed in just a hair, 1/16"-1/8" gives a truer trac.

Anything that reduces drag will improve mileage, however minor.

wandering

You have better luck than I do, my 02 QCLB 4x4 started wandering about 2 years ago at around 85k. I replaced EVERYTHING, steering box all rods, ends ball j's u j's wheel bearings, track bar, shocks, tires, sway bar ends, rotors etc. and it still wanders, its to a point that I dont like driving it anymore. One day I wanted to wander it right to the scrap yard. Dodge must have let a first year intern design the steering and suspension on my truck.

Westbound, make sure toe is at 0, caster ~ 3* & tire pressure no higher than 60 to 65#. That should make it track straight perhaps with imprecise response to steering inputs.

I can take my hands off the wheel for a long time. Geolanders wandered all over until I lowered pressure. Cardone & AGR boxes are crap. I'm going to try Redhead & put my steering brace back on.

Still have the entire oem front suspension except track bar, last alignment was in 2002. No wandering and excellent tire wear.

On a related note...do you have to get alignment after track bar change?

No. Changing the track bar will often affect the centering of the steering wheel, but it will not change any alignment angles. The steering wheel centering can be adjusted by lengthening or shortening the drag link, and can be done by eye.

liesurlee, make sure you followed the steps to properly adjust your box or you may be buying a new one soon! Overtightening can cause it to wear out rapidly.
