Water leak....still

The driver's side carpet is getting wet. I've determined that it's coming from the back of the cab running forward. I rtv'd the top of the rear window. That made a change for the better but it's still leaking along the drivers side there's a stream of water coming from the back of the cab to the front. The passenger side rear shoulder belt is wet too when you pull it out. I'm thinking maybe the roof seam is leaking. What holds the black plastic strips on over the roof seams?

Thanx

John

Not shure on the plastic strips. I had a leak and rtv'd the window and it was still there. Turned out to be the third brake light, so i rtv
'd that and im dry inside.

I forgot to mention the brake light was the first thing I sealed...I hope. Maybe I'll do it over just in case.

Thanx

Mine has that same leak if it rains hard. I put a paper towel in that rear drivers corner to see if it got wet and it stopped it from going foward, but I couldn't find the exact spot it was coming from. I'll let u know if I find where mines coming from, it's probably the same spot.

I had the same problem on my '96. I think I fixed it by sealing either the corners or bottom of the rear window gasket. Pull the seat back out then use a hose to locate the area of leakage.

the black plastic strips are held down with 2 sided tape. recheck the 3rd brake light. the gaskets tend to leak but i have fixed many that the lens seperates from the housing and lets the water in through the fixture.

I have developed a leak dripping from the roof console. I don't know where it is coming from, so I plan to seal all cab lights and even the 3rd brake, just in case.

Do you have clearance lights on the roof? They tend to leak alot!

Nope no clearance lights. I hate to have to pull the seats and carpet out to dry things up....oh well.

I just replaced my brake light seal last weekend. When I was cleaning the old seal off, I noticed a trail left from the water running down the inside of the lens. Today I found it is still leaking at back corners inside above the window.

Tape off the exit vents at the bottom rear of the doors, turn the fan on vent high. This will pressurize the cab. Now you can use a spray bottle of soapy water to find the leak.
