Short Bed - What years available?

Looking for a short Bed 2500, preferably 2nd Generation. Is the short bed available in all years or just certain years? Thanks.

98 was the first year for the shortbox with the Cummins

98 was also available with the quad cab(4 door) or club cab(2 door)

As well as the 12 valve and 24 valve

A 98 12 valve quad cab short box is a very desirable truck

Thanks

Why is 12 valve more desireable than 24?

Thanks for the information!

I am just beginning my search for my first diesel -- If there are any other basic pieces of information I should know, I am all ears? Thanks.

I am looking for a 98-01 2500 quad cab, short box, 4x4.

12v is all mechanically controlled. Plus it has a far more dependable lift pump and injection pump. So it is tougher, and easier to modify. A lot of power can be had on a 12v for free, nothing is free with a 24v.

Plus a 12v is more fun to drive

Do a search on the VP-44 and get some

reason i want a 12v is because the engine will last FOREVER! when the truck turns to poo, ill transplant the engine into a new truck.

Or you could turn it into a trailerd puller/drag truck and BOMB away, without worries about legality/drivability...

Not that I have a plan for after the Dodge parts of my truck start wearing out

I'm guessing all 98-02's had a short bed option. I know the 02's did because I have one.

Don't limit yourself that much.
2002 was a very good year.
Rear disc brakes, latest and greatest lift pump and VP4 (in theory mind you).

Not to mention the last year of the "real Diesels".

I didn't catch that he said 01... I'm betting he would consider an 02, some people don't realize that they made the 2500/3500 in the old body style a year longer than the 1500.
