Low beam head lights don't work ??

Hello
On my way home tonight, I turned on the headlights and all of them worked but the low beams.
I only had to go a few miles so I drove home with the driving lights on. I have not checked anything yet, I will get on that in the AM.
I have all the lights but the low beams, the high beams work fine.
I figure the first place I'll check is the switch.
Anyone else have this problem??
See Ya
Chris

Re:Low beam head lights don't work ??

Here is the diagnostic read out of the factory manual troubleshooting guide for "no low beams".

No ground for low beam circuit.

The fix: Ground should be present according to Multifunction Switch position. Check wiring circuit from the Multifunction Switch to the Headlamp. Trace the open circuit in wiring and repair. Also check the Multifuntion Switch for continuity.

Hope this helps ya out. 8)

Mine don't work now and then. On mine it's in the dimmer switch. I cycle the dimmer switch a couple of times and they come on. I may replace it someday... :

Make sure the change over in the signal arm is working properly. Were you able to get high beams?

Thanks for the replys
I was checking things over today. I unplugged the connectors on the back of the light switch and sprayed elect. cleaner in there and the same for the socket. I plugged everything back togather and the lights work fine. I am hoping that I had a bad connection. Now that I cleaned things up everything should be ok.
Thanks again
See Ya

Sometimes my high beams won't stay on in the morning.
My headlight switch burned up and the fog lights wouldn't work.
Had the switch replaced under warranty.

Re:Low beam head lights don't work ??

Ok I feel like a somewhat fool.
I went up and filled up on fuel the other night and when I came home (at DUSK) I flipped the steering wheel up like I always do and the lights turned on. I pulled the steering wheel down and the lights cut out. I pushed the steering wheel forward and the lights cut on. I pulled the steering ewheel down and it cut out. I dropped my truck off at the Dodge Dealership this afternoon. I am thinking that I have a short in my low beam circuit.
I will let you 'all know what they tell me.
See Ya

Re:Low beam head lights don't work ??

I had a similiar problem on my '99. Tilt steering wheel down, low beams cut off. Tilt it up, and they worked. Turned out the wiring harness in the steering wheel column was too short. Not only did I have several wires broken, but the low beam wire had pulled out of the connector. Thats why tilting the steering wheel up made them work again. I spliced several pieces of wire to the original harness, giving a few inches of slack, and it all worked again.

Hope that helps.
