Installing new seatbelt question.
I removed the old drivers seat belt and installed the new one in its place but I cant get it to unlock. Does anyone know if you have to do anything to unlock the seatbelt? I know the seat belts have to be at a certain angle to allow you to unlock them. but its mount on the seat and it wont unlock.

Thats what i was thinking but i have looked all over it. Looks the same as the old one that is locked up. I have looked on alldatapro and it dosent say anything about removing anything. Its making me mad that I'm getting my butt kicked by a seat belt, and the fact that I'm a Mercedes Benz tech.

Check the fuses. Some have a locking feature that locks it if the truck is left sitting for an hour or so, mine doesn't because I have checked by leaving it shut off with the window open and my belt is never locked recoiled. Tyr a search there was a lot oftalk on this subject a while back.

Maybe left field...
Is it pulled tight? What happens if you back the seatbelt drum up, does it lock in that position or does it come back to the original position its locked from? If the first, I'd say you have a loose spring or ball (not sure how these trucks do it) on the locking system, if second a stuck ratchet on the drum?

Well turns out that the seat has to be in the car plugged into the 2 white connectors on the floor before allowing you to unreal the new seat belt.

Glad you got it nailed down Wrangler 04. Hey off subject, I see you live in New Braunfels. Oddly, my fish smoker/barbecue was made there. Its one of the best I have ever had and the price was right...free!
