How do you turn this light off?<br><br>On the farm I dont necessarily wear the belt so is there a way to omit it/turn it off after ...30 seconds or so. <br><br>That way it isnt always on?

 

You could leave the belt always attached and sit on it. Or get an extra belt end and plug it in when you're not using the belt itself - system will think you're belted and light no more!

 

LonCray is probably right as the only legal way. Any attempt to tamper with the safety warning systems is usually prohibited by federal law.

 

DARN FEDS!!!<br><br>funny thing is , some cars come on and blink about 10 times and goes out. <br><br>Some cars the light comes on steady for about 30 seconds and goes out.<br><br>My dodge trucks always stays on.<br><br>PITA.<br><br>Will do the seat belt method but it is a PITA when you want to put the belt back on for &quot;on highway&quot; driving.

 

Well my folks' excursion dings like crazy in a cycle until you put the belt on. It dings really fast about 6 times, then waits about 5-10 seconds and does it again - VERY anoying.

 

The lincoln LS dings every 20 seconds, for 10 seconds, for the first five minutes of driving if you dont put the belt on.....it drives me crazy.

I haven't looked at my truck but the service manual says the driver's side seat belt latch (not the retractor), has a switch in it to tell if the belt is fastened. From the wiring diagrams, one wire to the switch is light green with a red stripe, the other is black with an orange stripe. If you ground the light green wire it will think the belt is on. I don't see any problem with having it grounded always, it will only draw power when the iginiton switch is on. I also don't see this as illegal; I doubt having a working seat belt indicator is legally required.

On the sidewalk tripping issue, don't forget to sue the pretty woman you were staring at who distracted you and made you trip. It was all her fault.

 

On my Ford Superduty, all you have to do is punch the seat belt button down once and it won't ding anymore.<br><br>Joe
