How hard to pull the dash in an 01?
How hard to pull the dash in an 01? The HVAC in my truck is not working right and I have to pull the dash. I'm only getting heat on MAX AC in the hot position. Had to pull the relay for the AC compressor to keep from freezing to death.
Might conisder a heater core while i'm in there.
THANKS!

Pulling just the dash isn't hard.
-***Disconnect batteries*****
-pull panel under steer wheel
-two bolts holding steering colum
-all screws on top of dash, base of windshield, 6-8 screws
-each side of dash at the bottom has two bolts near door jam, remove one and loosen the other
- Pull dash
-unhook vaccum lines, for HVAC, mark the lines for replacement
-remove 1-2 nuts from HVAC holding mounts
-Open hood
-remove airbox
-remove computer box on firewall
-unhook ac lines will need special tool to remove, $10 at O'Reilly's
-unhook water lines
-remove 3-4 nuts sticking through firewall, HVAC holding mounts
-Pull out the HVAC system
piece of cake
Allow 3 hours for removal and 2 hours for install. Throw away leftover screws and nuts!!!!!

From what I've heard, its a PITA. Guys that have looked into it were quoted 7 hrs for labor at local shops. But most of those guys were doing for cracked dashes. In your case, if you have the time, then give it a shot to keep warm.

Sorry J Body, Missed your last post on https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...ead.php?t=85111.
Right now, all I know is that I get cold air on every setting except MAX AC in the HEAT position. The HOT/COLD switch appears to be working when IN the MAX AC position.
Going out of town today, I'll have to look into it when I get back.
Thanks for the info.
