My ram 01 used to cherp the horn when I locked the doors with the keyless.. It does not any more.. Does anyone know a way of turning this feature on and off?

Mine did the same thing....pull and reinstall your alarm relay located in the engine compartment fuse/relay box. Cleared up my problem.

Check your owner's manual.
There should be instructions for turning the chirp feature on/off.

I may have misunderstood......

Did the chirp just quit or did the security system quit??

If it is like my wifes Jeep XJ, then just hold down the lock and unlock buttons togther. This is how it turns the horn chirp on and off. Lately hers turns off the horn like once a week, but the locks still work no problem.

It is with the door locks, it used to cherp and now it does not when I lock the doors. I have a factory service manual and they say that you can enable and disable this feature, but does not tell you how... Computer programming? with the scan tool maybe? I have tried the holding the lock and unlock on the keyless but no go.. Tried the pulling of the security system relay, and pulled the horn fuse... Have not tried to disco the batterys in the pickup yet.. maybe tonight..

any other ideas?

Hey does anyone know if you can make a 98 cherp when the doors lock? Mine does not chirp when I lock the doors with the keyless entry remote.

There is a thread here that is a couple of weeks old, where the instructions were written out. Do a search, you should be able to find it.

pg 14 of the 2001 owners manual has the info. Key on, hold the unlock button for 7 sec. While the unlock button is pressed, press the lock button. You will hear a single chime when programming is completed. I was going to throw in a few more steps, tune radio to fm 89.9, push cigarette lighter in three times with glove box and right door open and hazard lights on, but that would be mean .
