My AC seems to be dripping alot of water into the footwells, I assumed it was just AC condensate, and it probably is, but I looked and looked today for a plugged drain or something and cant find it shown in the FSM or the Haynes adn sure didnt see anything on the truck that looks like a drain tube... Is there one? where is it? The water sometimes appears to come out of the pass side floor vent but other times I dont know where it comes from.... The Evap housing under the dash has water beading up on it and dripping so maybe it is just condensing out of the cab air?

Sure POed the wife when she found all her crap wet, why she insits on having all her crap under her feet is beyond me but she does

The factory drain tube is on the firewall straight behind the turbo and down.
There are a lot of threads on here about the black rubber elbow that goes on the end and how the drain system works. (do a search)
The easiest way to clear it is to just blow some compressed air up the tube. I have also cleaned it by pulling the blower motor out and using spray soap and a water hose to flush out the inside of the box once I blow it clear.

Mine sometimes fills up inside (when the drain isn't clear) while I'm towing on the highway for a long time, then dumps out the floor vents (on both sides of the trans tunnel) when I take the exit ramp... The first time it happened I thought my wife had spilled her bottle of water on the floor, it was pouring out, when I sad "I think you spilled your water", she responded with "I don't have any water"...

If you mess with the drain tube where it comes out of the firewall be careful you don't brake the tip off like I did (brittle plastic). After I snapped the tip off I ended up reaming out the hole and epoxying in a brass pipe. I then ran a rubber hose down along the brake line and it almost reaches down to the lower control arm.

The other thing to watch out for is the blend motor (at least on my year) is on the bottom of the box and if it fills with water it will rust, then it sticks in one spot and won't change temp when you want it to. I was able to pull the screws out, drop the motor, clean it up and put it back together (has been working fine for several years since).

Put a piece of clear fuel line or similar on the drain tube in the well. Water will curl back under the bottom of it and come back in through an old seal. I put about 8 inches of tube on mine to carry the water down further and no more problem.

 

I fought mine for 2 years before I finally just tried the 90 degree heater bypass hose over the drain trick. Perfectly dry all summer long. I don't know why, but some don't ever leak, some leak just setting there running like my Greenie. I just went to AutoZone and got a typical 5/8" 90 degree bend hose, it is just a touch large, so I installed it with some silicone applied to the drain tube to help bond the hose when it dried. 1/2" might fit, but given the tight area to work in, I chose the 5/8"/silicone route.

I honestly did not believe my fan was pulling enough air just setting to lock it up, but the proof is in the pudding.

I wish they made a good gasket for the stupid thing.

 

I sealed mine with Geo-cel. Its a sealant my gutter guy uses.

Good stuff, no leaks since 04 when I got the truck...

 

I got the drain line extended, thanks gents, that eliminated the majority of the water but not all, the AC housing is still coated with condensate n the lower half of the unit on the outside. Is there an insulating cap for it or something else to reduce or eliminate that condensate that then drips down onto the floor?

the factory rear breaklight foam seal is only $15 bucks

 

For future reference, I put a 90 deg copper elbow on one we had at work. Not sure what size but it slipped on with a snug fit. Wind pressure keeps the condensate from being able to flow out.

 

well the extension helped some but what really helped was blowing out the drain line with some compressed air, it really flowed then!! so far so good !

Whoops, sorry, I never thought to tell you to make sure it was clean first. I had rodded mine out so many times it has to be spotless.......

Is it still sweating on the outside of the box?
