Drain plug cracked?!?!?!

I just changed my oil last week and now my drain plug is leaking. I bought a new $7.00 plug but I was wondering if this is a common problem.. It is actually leaking from the center of the drain plug. Not from around it. The dealer told me they always put a new drain plug in these trucks when they change the oil. This sounds strange to me. Oh well, I hope the new one works. Now I have to drain all the oil just so I can put the plug in....

Re:Drain pug cracked?!?!?!

I've changed my oil several times and never replaced the plug. Hmmm... never heard of such a thing, drain plug breaking that is. Good luck.

Yeah, I think that's a common problem. Pickup a superplug or another aftermarket plug from Geno's. Solves that issue. ;D

Tony

The finger touch drain plug from Genos is far and away the slickest way for chganging oil. It must be modified to drain the pan completely, and is a little slow at draining, but you'll never have to take off the drain plug again.

Re:Drain pug cracked?!?!?!

I've read several posts on the plan plug fracturing/breaking. I have a new plug and copper sealing washer on hand in case it happens to me.

Jerry

Re:Drain pug cracked?!?!?!

Thanks guys. The new plug looks to be a little better than the stock one. I'll find out later on when I put it in....

Re:Drain plug cracked?!?!?!

I got the new plug in and all is fine. You would think that the plug would come with the washer. NOPE!! I put some RTV on both sides of the washer and torqued it to 40 lbs . The old plug was cracked around the entire circumference of the base. Be careful when you tighten these.....
And as far as the new piece being better, as I stated in my last post, it is not. It's exactly the same!!
