Tink-tink-tink noise
I have this new noise, ‘metallic tinking noise’ like someone tapping on the block with a very small wrench. Sounds like it’s coming from one of the pulleys. I listened to them all with a piece of wood to my ear (then all around the engine,) but can’t hear it anywhere except when I just stand there with it idling. Took the belt off, and the pulleys/bearings seem fine. Fan clutch seems fine. Turned the AC on/off, no change.
Just wondering if this sounds familiar to anyone, or any ideas.
Thanks

No I haven't ... you think it could be a valve? ... I did listen to the valve cover, and couldn't here that 'tink' ... it doesn't sound like the 'tap' of a valve lol ... dang, this stuff only ever happens to me. Tomarrow, if I get home from work early enough, I'll try running it without the belt, to see/hear what happens ....

Sorry - forgot to get back to this thread.
Ran it without the belt, and the noise was gone. Just for the heck of it I put on a new belt (even though the old one looked fine,) noise was gone.
Now after about 700 miles, the noise is just starting to come back off-and-on.
My guess is that the tension or tracking of the new belt some how changed the pressure on the pulleys and stopped the noise for awhile ??
Going the change the idler pulley bearing and see what happens, and go from there.
Don't think it's the AC clutch, since turning the AC on/off made no change ??
