Need an opinion on vp44 mistake

while fixing my fuel guage i crimped the big line (soft fuel hoses) with vise grips between the fuel filter canister and the vp44 one on each side of the fuel gauge t fitting to preventfuel from going everywhere. Well i gotta just about done when i was interupted by the wife tell me dinner was done. So i eat dinner and then started the truck up. But i didnt take the vise grips off that were closest to the vp44. Truck started fine and idled good with 21 lbs fuel pres. i take it for a ride to get fuel and i give it about half throttle when it hick-cupped. down th ehighway for a few miles to get fuel. pull out and mash it it hick-cupped like mad , get back home limping with just a little throttle, and find the vise grips still on the line... took them off and truck still hick-cups .. DID I BURN THE PUMP UP ??????????

Man, hard to tell really. I'm going to guess NOT, but time will tell.

You can check for the P0216 Code, unlikely, but could be there.

Bleed the lines and give it a try. The dealer ran my new vp44 out of fuel on the test drive, to the point that the truck had to be towed back. They put fuel in and bled the lines and it has been fine. That was in March and I have been to Arizona and back with no troubles.
