Getting started

I just bought an 01 2500 quad cab long bed. I know it has a 60hp edge chip with a closed box afe cold air intake. I am told it has injectors but don't know for sure. It also has a 4" exhaust with magnaflow mufler and 6" tip. I'd like to put a stage 2 turbo, bigger chip, and injectors on it. What else should I do/what brand should I go with.

Fill out a sig with info like how many miles, lift pump upgrade, stock tires or bigger, transmission type. Gear Ratio if you know it. Then we "experts" can help you spend some money.

That is a tuff one. 85k and the tranny is original might indicate stock injectors as a 60 hp chip and injectors would have caused it some slipage at least but nothing definate. If it got RV 275 in it won't smoke alot even with the chip. If it rolls alot of smoke when you smash the skinny pedel then you might as that edge is mostly timing and not alot of extra fuel.

1st thing I would spend money is getting that automatic built. They don't last all that great with extra power of a turbo and injector. Also get an upgraded lift pump. Air Dog and FASS are popular. They have better filtration and water seperation (plus most realy good filter and water seperator work with them) to keep you injection pump alive.

Once those are done, then it is really limitless as to what you want to do. Turbo's and injector together but then you have to deciede how much driveablity you still want. At 62/71/xx turbo and 100-150 hp injectos and any of the boxes you will have a screamer that will run with most stock muscle cars.

What everyone is trying to say is that your quest isn't as simple for us as you'd like it to be. There is many many variables and hurdles to lookout for and over come before you can do certain things. I realize that by you simply asking shows you probably understand that but my advise is to next time ask simple questions, not open ended all in one type questions. You'll get more responses and much more specific responses too.
Also, yes, the auto tranny is the weakest link in the drivetrain. Find out what that tranny can handle before you add more HP than you already have and also tow with that added power.

It's also good to figure out a HP goal that you want to reach so you can plan out the best way to reach it. If you're only shooting for 350-400hp, there's no use going all out of some of the basics since they won't be required. But if you know you want to go for 600-700, then you want to make sure you set yourself up for this goal as you do upgrades (like the trans) so you don't have to go back and redo things later.
