What?! Again!

i have a 99 2500 sport, no mods, it is now gettin its second transmission and transfer case, that ive put in, ive had the truck for about 3 years. im pretty sure that the previous owner put in at least one transfer case and did the front drive shaft.

what could be causin this sort of damage. the last transmission and transfer case only lasted 30,000km

i had the rear suspention replaced in the spring, the front drive shafts seems ok, though im not sure how much effort it should take to move it. i dont think its been in an accident, though i dont have any paperwork to prove other wise.

I have the HD 241DH. dana 80, dana 60 up front and a NV 5600. I would talk with the shop what warranty are they giving you. also what type of convertor do they use. and the clutches etc. even if someone is in buisness 30 years. who knows who installed your tranny. do you know exactly who installed it and who built it. hope they will either rewarranty the work or give you back your money and you can go else were with a proven Diesel tranny buisness. hope it works out for yo.

go to quad 4x4 and look for the conversion kit to make your 241ld to a 241HD

I dont think it will solve your NV4500 issue. What is actually breaking in both of them at the same time? sounds like the tranny shop is sticking it to you.

I'm running the dana 80 rear,60 front nv4500 and 241hd in my truck. only had one issue and i think it was created at a shop getting a seal put in the tail shaft.

Could be bad U-joints/pinion angle. I know that the third gens have a problem with busted trannys when something is not right in the rear end.

Or, as others have suggested with the shop you are taking it to.

the trucks a 99, and its all stock. if its engineered wrong...

the tranfer case goes first. but we didnt catch it in time. my mechanic thinks this time a seal went. i dont think i was usin the truck at the time.
the first time we did the tranni and transfercase the drive shaft broke the tcase. i think, i know it broke in that area. i had it fixed at a local shop then one day it just didnt go. and got trailered into town. and got the tranni and transfer case replaced.

I was just saying that it's a common problem in third gens...

Just brainstorming...
