Code Question

I am getting a P1693 code. I know this is a code simply saying there was a fault generated in the computer. But doesn't this typically acompany another code with the issue? I have an engine light that jsut showed up, and when I checked it, all it has is the one code (P1693), and nothing else. Why would this code be generated by itself?

Thanks in advance.

Tony

Means you need a scanner to see the other code(s).

Why wouldn't they show up with the ign sequence test like the 1693?

The cross we bear for having two main computers controlling everything,
the Dodge PCM and the Cummins ECM.
They often don't communicate well with each other.

Most cars have one main computer, the PCM controlling everything, or at least telling the minor computers what to do.

phox?
Is there a page in this site, or a site that shows all the codes? Or even some of the codes?

Here's a pretty good list, in the Tech Facts section.

Here's a site I like, seems to be more complete.

Well, that makes sense then. But that said, it would seem the error is coming from the cummins ECM then, and the Dodge PCM simply sensed that a message was generated by the ECM? If I am understanding correctly, this would be the issue?
