code interpertation PO216

My truck has been running funny lately, so I used my Superchips Tuner to run the DTC code reader operation. The code PO216 fuel injection pump timing failure came up .
Can anyone tell me what this means and how to fix it?
Thanks,
Terry
I can't belive it, I called the dealer and they said under 100,000 miles they will replace both pumps, no charge.
because the po216 code showed up.
Time will tell.
Thanks you all

That's normally the death code for the VP44 injection pump. There are a few exceptions, but very few....

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

As mentioned the 0216 is normally associated with VP failure. Low lift pump pressure can also trigger this code.....

My truck drove fine for over a 18 months with P0216, though with less power and decreasing fuel mileage. I just replaced the pump this last weekend, and installed a Walbro lift pump system. Now it runs great! Better power and response, and if I can keep my right foot out of it, better mileage!!
