PO216 & P1693 codes

Buddy of mine has an 01 HO with an edge drag on it and a pierced wire. His truck started smokin white and no power. Pulled the codes for him and got po216 and p1693. Is his pump gone south? thanks

pump is done......might as well order one from cummins...also check the fuel pressure out of the transfer (lift) pump.....make sure it is no lower than 8 psi @WOT. More than likely though both pumps will need too be replaced....

I recommend doing the VP44, and using the fass or air dog system instead of replacing the stock lift pump...it is worth the extra $$$$$

just my 0.02 worth (0.0166 US) HAHAHAHA

Cummins Stuff has a better price on VP44's in my experience. As far as the fuel system goes, RASP is what I would use.

The FASS has a couple of advantages over the RASP system. One is better filtration, another you don't have to fill the filters as change. It has the pump up capability when breaking the fuel system, much easier to start it after work or running out of fuel.

So tell us H_I_D….how do you prime the fuel system if you have a RASP?

I would guess that it would prime like any other gear pump feed system. Fill the filter, open a line to let the air out and crank on it.

You might as well go ahead and have him upgrade to a high flow VP44 while he's there. Cost's about the same and he'll get more power. Can't beat that now, can ya.

Actually, you would prime it the same as you would your FASS. The RASP runs in parallel to the electrcal pump. Bump the starter a few times and the electric pump primes the system so there's no need to crank on it.
