Would you buy this?

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/car/265911338.html

I really want a truck to fix up. Cummins or nothing. Im not gonna "bomb" it just try to get the engine to run the same tq/HP as my dads '04.5. So, should I buy this as my first diesel?

I'd personally hang for a 4x4 but the price is right. Check Craigslist Sacramento for the $1800.00 5.9 from a 93 with 86k miles on it.

Looks like the year is wrong or someone changed the grill.

Yeah definately wrong year, unless someone removed the intercooler setup and put a non-i/c style grill on

The whole body is 90 and earlier, not just the grill. I wouldn't buy it, something's not right.

I think it's at least worth a look. People get the years of their vehicles mixed up all the time. My mom cant remember if hers is a 91 or 93 lot of the time (it's a 92). Most people see the square body style and slap a early 90s number to it. Only thing you have to lose is a littke time and fuel money.

Sorry but it's not a 4wd. I can tell simply by the lack of a lockout hub on the front axle, the lack of 'Power Ram' emblem on the side and if you look close enough, the lack of a pumpkin. Plus what you think you see is the pumpkin, 1st gens have the front axle pumpkin on the passenger side, not the driver side.

Yeah if it was a 4wd for that price, it'd be a decent deal. But it's just a run of the mill beater 2wd $1500 truck.

It took me 4 months to find a single Cummins anything below $4,000.

If it's an Arizona truck, undamaged, unrusted, straight, strong and with a new injection pump, it's well worth $2,500 due to rarity alone. He could get $3,500 out of it in these parts, sky's the limit if it's super clean.

2500 is a steal look on e/bay any real beat up rust bucket goes for well over that a no rust gasser is worth that.Ist gen are getting to be worth more than 2nd gen if they are mint.
