Who's going for the Record??
My line of thinking was that if the 24V head flowed better, I would change the cams over, i.e. take my 12V cam and put it in the 24V head, if it would fit. But really, as JBradley pointed out, what's the point?
And I don't know how I'd get the injectors to work.
I hadn't really thought it through, just kinda daydreaming a bit.

I`m doing it. I got a `99 24v engine that had an under hood fire that melted the vp44 pump electronics REALLY cheap. I already had the ve pump and timing case. I got a hamilton 181/210 cam to drive the piston lift pump, and had reiff diesel build the ve pump and put on a bolt on plate to retain the front seal to be able to handle the pressure of the 96 dodge lift pump. I had my machinist make threaded bushings to put on the discharge valves so I can use the stock 24v injector lines. I also have a he 351cw turbo off an `06 cummins to help with the air flow. lee reiff also modified my 275 rv injectors to have the proper pop pressure and put in larger nozzles, 7 holes that are larger than stock.( don`t know how much larger) I`m going to re-seal and relpace all gaskets and install ARP head studs this spring then install the engine ,with my 2400 allison trans, in my `70 chev suburban this summer. will post some pictures when I get `er started.

This 24v head, and P-pumpin stuff on a first gen engine is kinda moot if ya ask me.....just put a 24v p7100 with a 47rh already and be done with it, but your off the team without a VE 12v.

My thinking on the 12v/24v head stuff are as follows.
If you need more airflow and happen to have a 24v fall into you lap for less than $200, then yeah, I would do it. HOWEVER, the money spent into making it work can get you a decent flowing 12v head. Now the difference between a 12v and a 24v is 1 set of extra but SMALLER valves. You cannot physically fit 2 12v valves in the head. Now, for the dough spent on making the 12v flow, will be almost lbs for lbs on a ported 24v head.
The only advantage really is more air can enter on a stock vs stock application. Port the exhaust side and you really don't help. A 24v head will not require cutting the intake log off for more airflow on the intake side.
Just my $.02 worth...

I noticed the list of 10 and 11 second fuel only trucks on team VE was pretty short though. But then if speed scares you....

Not many VE guys are willing to "invest" $40-50k either like most of the trucks on that list have in them. No one spending that kind of money to run 11's starts with an underdog injection pump.

It's all about money Ron.
Many 1st genners don't have it or aren't willing to spend it to get a ve there.
Brians truck would had been there 5 years ago with an auto tranny and a regular bed on old yeller.
If I want to watch a p-pumped 1st gen, I'll watch yours or Moonlight Diesels run down the tracks. Both would be/are fun to watch.
If you had dumped all that money over the years into a ve, ported head, yadda yadda combo, you would have an 11 second ve 1st gen.
We are not all going for a record if we are at the strip with a manual tranny or an ext cab.
The time will come.

I love my first gen truck and i really don't care which pump or engine is in it as long as it continues to be interesting. Heck, with the money i save by not smoking, drinking, chewing, going to school, and chasing loose women, this truck is easy to keep running.
