Arrow What are the effects of bumping the timing

Can this hurt the engine in any way? Is there any worries about the valves or the tops of the pistons gettin too hot and not knowing cause the egt's show cooler? How far do you all reccommend goin with it? How far off are the EGT's gonna be? I am just kind of parinoid about doin this but i have heard good things about it. Your suggestions are greatly appriciated.

It is the gorvernor spring and i guess it just governs the motor less. Put one in and you will be extremely satisfied with it, it feels like it doubles your power, it is amazing what $16 bucks can do for power on these trucks.

An 1/8" bump will do fine for you, it won't hurt anything.

What advancing the timing will do is move the power cure higher in the rpm range. Also give slightly more time for the fuel to burn before the exhaust valve opens, which it what gives you better fuel mileage. Also note that this increases the cylinder pressure. My thoughts in a nutshell.

1/8 " will help mpgs ,it will lower EGTs but it increace cylinder pressure (to much timing will or can blow head gaskets ) timing will help upper rpm HP lower bottom end hp a little but for the most part its a plus .if you run propane dont advance propane will automaticly do that

I had a 92 that i put a new pump on. I had the gspring kit and cranked the fuel screw all the way in and jammed the pump against the block. This along with 300 marine injectors, new intercooler, and a 12cm housing on stock h1c turbo did right at 300/700 on Dunbars dynojet at indy. Was probably the funnest most reliable truck i have had. It towed great too. Wish i would have kept it for a daily driver. Even with the timing bumped all the way, never had a head gasket problem. Mileage was good too about 15 to 16.
