What Do all of you think is best of all?

I want to get the fuel pin for my truck but i dont know what one is the best. I heard poeple talk about one is weaker metal and will get score marks in them ,etc. So I want to know what all you think is best one to buy with my mods. I am also in the market for a HX40 off of a 8 litre Cummins. Thanks

I ground my own but I have read that the Denny T pins and the Old Smokey pins are pretty good. The ones to stay away from as far as scoring in the metal are the Bully Dog pins, I think that the metal they use is softer than the others.

Hope this helps Ryan

Check the bolt pattern on the 8 liter. And I am not sure what exhuast housing they use. As fas as the fuel pin, most everyone around hear use's Smokeys.

There is no doubt the Bully Dog pins are too soft. But the deeper the groove goes, the more fuel is delivered until the small pin bottoms out...........I hope?

Yes Indeed! Ive been waiting for someone to say that. Over the past 4 months developing my own pin Ive studied all the pins out there. Ive seen some with BIG grooves and some that have only granual differentiations. The only pin that I saw that was trouble had a "bump" in it. The grooves dont hurt anything as long as they stay smooth throughout the fuel curve. The owner of said pin told me that he could feel when it would hit the bump, it would excelerate all of a sudden and at times get stuck. A smooth "groove" is fine, a bump.....not so good.
So, for the folks that have posted over the past few weeks in different threads freaking out about your pin having a "groove" in it, dont worry. Dont chunk it and buy another, tromp it and enjoy it!

I just pulled on my DDP pin tonight (which came with a tag saying it's the "real pin" from ole smokey) and its got a deep groove in it already. It has maybe 8,000 miles on it, probably less. Anyone else having this problem with DDP pins? The stocker was at about 215k with no grooves.

has anyone ever had there pin heat treated after it was ground on? My thoughts are it needs to be re heat treated after it is ground because of it getting hot while grinding on. Maybe if it was heat treated it wouldn't wear as fast or maybe at all. Just a thought

What is the advantage of a different pin grind ??

What does it do to EGT ??

Is it not something that should be done to a heavy towing truck ??

Thanks.

The aftermarket pins bring on the fuel sooner, and they allow more governor lever travel for more total fuel.

EGT goes up, of course.

If you already have EGT worries, more fuel is not a good idea.
