who do you think makes the best automatic torque converters and valve bodies?
I am looking at buying a 2002 2500 diesel with the auto and I need a good strong auto with a good converter with low stall and good shift. It also has to be relieable seeing that I live in Alaska and distances are great. But I don't want to spend money I don't have to, seeing the prices very quite a bit.
from cheapest to most expensive. DTT at $1145, Suncoast at $1312, BD at 1394, and ATS at $1835. now that is converter and valve body(without shipping)
I would like to go with the DTT products seeing they are the cheapest, but I also want something good.
what does everyone recommend?
thanks- Rob

Suncoast converters seem to be a really popular Ford Powerstroke thing. A lot of PSD owners get Suncoast converters. They're supposed to be very well built. I don't know though about these aftermarket converters in general. I don't own a slushbox.

AKGoldminer:
The only experience I have is with DTT. I'm creeping up on 40,000 miles and the TC and valve body have been in since almost new. I really like the way the shifts are nice and firm. I tow an 11.5K lb fiver, and the Cummins/DTT combination seems to be able to handle the task, no problem. I've towed through the Smokies in 98* heat, and the tranny temp never climbed over 165. I don't think that you could go wrong with DTT.

Briarhopper, on this site is an ATS dealer, and can fill you in on the ATS equipment. As far as the other two, I don't know a thing.

Good Luck with your decision.
