Expecting another flood in the barn?

I woke up to a monsoon, just like yesterday.

Doing research yesterday factory wheel cylinders were 1" on the passenger side, and 7/8" on the driver side. When we pulled the old ones they were 1 1/8th. Went to Oreilly's and got some that are 1 3/16th's. Now getting to some dry time is the hard part. I am going back to work, my friend is a college teacher and he is doing 3 nights a week under his summer break until August.

Wheel cylinder diameters?

Hoping it doesn't flood like that again for another 25 years or more (the only way it would affect me then, is it might float me out of the ground...). But I am watching the river predictions. "Fortunately" it's been dry for so long it took awhile for it to start to run off. 4.35" and counting so far this past week.

Rug_Trucker, that is the first time I heard the wheel cylinders were different sizes on the rear. Where did you see that info?

Didn't remember where as I went to 27 different dead ends yesterday. However here we go I put in '93 D350 at this new to me website. Scroll down for the right WC. They list a 7/8", and a 1" for the left. They only list a 1" for the right.

"1993 Dodge D350
Rear Right; 7/8" Bore; 12" X 2-1/2" Brakes
https://www.truckspring.com/Search.aspx?p=Make Dodge/Year:1993/Model 350/Brake-Wheel-Parts/Wheel-Cylinders" "1993 Dodge D350
Rear Left; 1" Bore; 12" X 2-1/2" Brakes"

Ok I went to their website, and I think what you are seeing is they have the 1" for both sides and the 7/8 for both sides as well

That makes more sense. You'd want them the same so it doesn't tend to pull/lock up on one side. Seems like bigger is better for these rears?

All of that could be caused by the CPS/crankshaft position sensor in one fell swoop. I had mine gapped wrong when I put the timing cover back on. The gap was too big. Mine wouldn't charge, and the OD didn't work. AC has never worked, no tach installed. I guess the CPS can go bad. So can the wiring from it.

I would think that if you hauled a lot of weight the larger wheel cylinders would be a good thing, but if you have an upgraded brake system (think hydro-boost) and rarely haul weight, I would think that you would have the rears locking up quite a bit

FINALLY installed the B&M deep trans pan I scored cheap several years ago. It was overdue a fluid change after the new converter and shift kit. Fluid looked new and only a little sludge and shiny stuff. Should be wore in by now. Indy here I come!

Plan is to pull a 5th wheel in the future. I got some commercial grade shoes off Rockauto. These rigs were under braked from the factory. Right now the ABS proportioning solenoid/ doodad is still hooked up. As far as I know it isn't functioning. They are notoriously titled as junk. You can't get them new, or rebuilt. I will tear it down and check the innerds. I think they have O-rings in them. Not for sure on that. I'm not one for driving aggressively and following to close. Especially since this past November with no working rear brakes.

68yo and can't erase my muscle memory when it comes to panic braking. I go back to driver education in '72. I have never adjusted to ABS including on 18 wheelers. There is adjustable proportioning valves out there.

Big pain is what to do with bypassing the brake controller.

Did you add any magnets? I have a PPE here for mine. I think it has a magnetic drain plug. Not enough in my opinion. I know on my Buicks they say to add extras. However our pans are "a-moooo-la-num." I got the 4 1/2" super deep one.

I definitely appreciate the good brakes on my gooseneck! Need to work on the tag-a-long's. Trailer brakes make the difference with these trucks!

I got the parts to bypass my ABS from a sticky here years ago but it's nonfunctioning and not causing a problem so I've left it alone...

I started to throw in the old magnet but wondered about it rolling around in the aluminum case. It has a small one on the drain. I could add it, at least it will be easy to drain now! This on is about 2" deeper than stock. Curious to compare the temps now!
