No I removed the sticking glovebox lamp last year.
Waiting for an NOS replacement.

 

Not much else to do since it's raining cats and dogs and anti-Trumpers. The water is standing all the way across the street and I have sandbags at my back door to keep it from coming in the house.

Anyone know of a way to combat excessive crank case pressure? I've got oil coming out of the dipstick tube and it's making quite the mess

 

Try an oil and filter change once every so often.

 

Oil and filter done every 5k with Delo 400 and a WIX filter

 

Oh good stuff so that isn't the issue.
An overheating engine can cause excessive blow by, so check coolant temps at top rad hose with a heat gun to start.
May be prudent to pull the breather baffle and clean.
Keep in mind with 375k it may just be worn rings.
A quart of oil every so often won't make the old girl feel neglected :-) and it's less trouble than an overhaul, unless you're so inclined.

 

I think I'll put it on the rack tomorrow and pull the baffle. I've thought about drilling a hole in the #2 valve cover and installing a topside breather

 

According to my FSM there is a crankcase vent tube that runs from the back of the tappet cover down past the starter by the oil pan. If that tube gets plugged then the blow by could force oil out the dipstick tube.

 

I believe you're on the right track.
I couldn't bring myself to install a communist rail front cover breather, so I took the easy way out and out on a dual valve cover breather (or two I forget ) , bunged up the front cover oil fill + installed an industrial #1 valve cover oil fill.
Oh yeah, captain overkill syndrome told me to put a Keating tappet cover with dual baffled breathers too, but the dual valve cover breather suffices plenty.

 

Should be a fun project and help it breathe easier when it gets the top end beefed up. Looking to let the hybrid turbo breathe completely instead of limiting it to 25 psi

 

If you can weld aluminum, something like this is a fraction of the cost of the dual breather valve cover setups that a lot of folks run. Don't tell ofelas though. If he can't buy it and pay someone else to install it, he won't use it.

 

Today I finished installing the 2006 Chevrolet Suburban/Tahoe visors in the truck. My truck has a drop down overhead console so it wasn't too hard to get the mounts to work properly. While not perfect, I wish they could of been closer to the cab corners they are a nice upgrade from not having anything!

On the bench, mounting holes cut. I used 1 1/8 CDX scrap to give the screws lots of material to bite into.


Wiring finished and back to the truck.


Console back in with visors up.


Visors down with mirrors open, the lights aren't on as I zapped the wiring hooking them up to the volt meter which is always Hot. Off to get another fuse or voltmeter...


And then visors to the side with extension out and secondary front visor down.
