When I look at the topology of this farm, it's obvious that it is basically an old river bed with a few islands. The soil type is prairie muck.

40 years ago I buried a 2 ton dump truck in the middle of the driveway. I had to crawl out the window because the door would not open. I've been working on it ever since. This is nothing. (relatively)

We're going into spring break up now (a bit early) and it's been drizzling for 2 days. It's pretty slimey with some nasty grease holes right now. About normal for a spring.

There's a fairly decent gravel pad right behind where the truck failed. When it dries out I'll put a strap on it and pull it up on the hump so I can crawl under it and patch the broken hose or whatever. Then I'll fill er up with fresh fluid and see what's left.

Post pictures of the mud stuck under the truck. Interested in seeing what living on an old river bed looks like after a few years of "muck raking".....

Lets just say the drive through car wash doesn't touch it. Takes a pile of quarters with the wand.

He isn't the only member with a sewing machine.

Mine is a Consew 206 RB model.

With our type of machines it isn't hard to attach a finger if you do an oooppppsssss.

The boots look good. You going to glue some type of sound deadener to the inside. A single ply will let a lot of road noise in.

Thanks Philip,
Mine is an old Singer 111W153. We figure it was built in the late 40s. When I got it the timing belt was a woven cotton band with what looked like staples made of round steel stock. I got a new rubber one and figured out how to Tune it now all is well.

Yeah I will glue something in the boots and maybe make a flat piece of vinyl or leather with a couple slits in it for the bottom.

With parts being N/A for singer machines. Anything used in a singer around my area was trashed.

That's why I bought a consew many years ago. A used singer was bringing more than the new consew.

Consew is a good machine.
My mom bought the one I have around 1970 and used it very little before it started acting up. She gave it to ma a couple years ago. it is in good condition.
Quite a few Juki parts fit it.

I bought my consew new in 90.

I got tired of passing up vehicles with good bodies and paint. That had minor drive train problems with trashed interiors. So the machine raised resale prices very well. Drop new seat upholstery and carpet. Then make about 10 times over what I had invested for a about a weeks worth of work.

I didn't do commercial work just my own stuff.

Mighty Diesel head bolts, 60# springs, valve cover gaskets and seals. and a touch of hemi orange and black paint. set valve lash to .008/.018. Truck seems to run smoother at all speeds/rpm. especially smooth on the highway at 2000 rpm. took the girl for a ride today. one of the first things she said was "did you do something to make the truck quieter?" i guess the fact that they were ~.015/.025 to start with was making a lot of extra clatter. Good news is it seems to have held together after starting, lmao. Some truck ****
