Water Pump?

Has anyone experienced a bad water pump without the usual outward signs?

Thanks

Not unless the impeller rusts off. Never saw one like that, they usually leak or make noise.

I have had 2 WPs ( not on the cummins) that the impeller came loose from the shaft, no outward sign, it would not overheat setting idling, but would gradually overheat going down the road.

The WP's are so cheap for these things, if I suspected it at all, I would just change it.

Even if the propeller came off there is a back plate that would stop it. I just replaced mine, the bearings seized up on me.
