Ve pump questions

Ok so I’ve had my truck on the road for about 2 months and it runs great can’t complain. The po put a new ve on it 2 years ago and I maxed everything out. Now when I pull a hill with a trailer (21’ gooseneck) and shift really any gears but the usual 3 to 4 pull I shove it in 4th and no matter how fast I do it just smokes like a freight train and dies. Quick throw it back to 3rd and get flipped off by the guy behind me I pull right up the hills. I have an hx35w and I make great boost 25-30 psi. Should I get a fuel pin or what do I need to make it quit bogging out and being doggy.

Do you know what all the previous owner did? You need to figure it out. Could be a lot of things, or just one. Do you have an EGT gauge? What does it show? Keep in mind, going fast or pulling a load are two very different worlds for these trucks.

I have no idea in the po but I rotated the diphram and I turned the main fuel screw out on it he only backed the main out a little bit i went about 2 turns. Egt gague is not hooked up but I can tell you the engine gets warm and you can smell heat paint burning off my manifold

I am not sure what you are doing.
I turn my fuel screw IN when I want more power.

In your first post you said you max'ed out your pump and you are towing a heavy trailer with no EGT gauge hooked up.
I smell more than burning paint, I smell big trouble for your engine.

I would highly recommend you install that EGT gauge and do some research on how to tune a VE pump ASAP.
