turbo/injector setup

Hello,

My excitements worn off again, but this time Im out of mods.

I want bigger injectors so that is first, I was looking at the new era 435's figuring this,

If I get the bigger injectors now and tune the pump down later on I can put more fuel to it when needed. Is my theory somewhat correct? I read they are a 5x0.014 injector.

currently I have a 2nd gen WH1C that will build 40lbs of boost through a PS intercooler. Does this seem like enough flow of air? ( I have alot of 3" piping plus the intercooler that it has to build to 40psi ) I would like to upgrade that turbo aswell. I have kicked the idea of a VGT around for awhile just can't make up my mind. I think Id like to stick with a big single. I think the WH1C is a 56mm turbo. What would be a cheap but decent upgrade? ( when I say cheap I mean less than $800 ) Do I need to upgrade right away?

I just need some help here cause Im not that good at figuring this stuff out. Once i do it once I will have a better Idea but its my first time setting it up.

my IP is cranked about all the way, timing has been bumped almost to the head. I have a Airdog Raptor 150 pump. Right now the truck doesn't get hot EGT wise unless im towing.

Thank you for the help

Kody

You sure you don't have a hx or hy35? With that much boost and timing you should be thinking about head studs. On the p pump 12valves you can pull a bolt and install a stud one at a time. Assuming you can with the older ones too.

Not what turbos are in that price range but lots of guys like the 3rd gen turbos and they are under 800. Good for a easy 350hp

Does your exhaust clear up well once the Turbo spools? You are pushing a h1c, hy/hx 35 pretty hard at 40psi too, it won't last terribly long and is just blowing hot air at that point

Hello,

I am pretty sure it is a WH1C, It doesn't push 40 psi. it will spike to 40 if you really get on it up hill. Normal operating boost pressures are around 30-35.

I was thinking of doing headstuds, but just didn't want to untill I absolutly had to. So your saying I wouldn't have to remove the head to install them?

When im into it empty it clears up and will haze under full throttle. It never really cleans up fully. When you say 3rd gen turbo you mean the he351cw? do you know the specs on them off hand? I need something that is still decent for towing.

Thank you,

Kody

If you wait until you have to (blown gasket) its a absolute mess! Cooling system full of oil, engine bay full of oil, then you are going to want your head planed, valves done, new gasket etc. it's much easier todo it now!! I see no reason why you can't replace one at a time.

Yes I meant the he351, I think it is a 60mm. As long as you don't go to big of turbo it will be fine for towing. Going by your boost numbers and the haze you need something bigger right now

You could get a Borg 63/68/.91 divided housing turbo for $800 bones and it will keep up with your 435's.

I did a hx35/12w for a guy with a 91 and he loves it. Much better than the stock one.
Cheap too!
as you add fuel you can upgrade to a 14 or 16 housing.

Alright, Ill look into a set of headstuds, Will ones from a 2nd gen 12v fit aswell? there was a guy local that had a set for a 2nd gen brand new for $200.

I had read alot about the he351. does the 4mm difference between the turbos make that much of an increase? it just seems like a small amount.

on another note, would I be fine with the 435's and stock lines? or should I get bigger injector lines when I get the injectors?

Thanks,
Kody

The stick injector lines will be fine.
