Timing Question

I hear a lot of you guys saying "timing bumped an eighth". I checked out the sticky, and is all you have to do is loosen the nuts and rotate it? Sounds simple but wanted to ask. Thanks

Yep, a ratchet strap and a block of wood make rotating the pump nice and easy.

I know I'm exposing my ignorance here, but is it an 1/8 inch? Also do I rotate the bottom or the top of the pump toward the engine? Thanks Again

You rotate the top of the pump 1/8" towards the engine. Just make a mark on the timing case and then turn it the 1/8" from there.

Thank you. Sounds simple. What is the biggest benefit from doing this?

Fuel economy and a little more top end power.

O.K. Thanks for all the info. Now I am contemplating whether I want to sacrifice lowend power for topend. Hmmm-Decisions, decisions!

You can always put it back if you don't like it.
