Stans exhaust and band clamps

This thread here:
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...=Stans+headers

Has some good advice on using band clamps instead of the supplied u-bolts when installing a Stans exhaust system, so it can be easily disassembled.

I found a SS 4" clamp for $9 at Summit, is this the right one?
http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...2&autoview=sku

How many clamps do I need to install the system?

Also, someone mentioned upgrading to heavy duty exhaust hangers from Napa, any input on that or part numbers?

I've never done an exhaust before, so it would be helpful to get all the right parts in a pile before I tear the truck apart, thanks for any advice guys.

Those clamps look right, you can get that style at most good auto parts or heavy truck stores for the same money and save the handling fee from summit. You'll need 5.

If your going to NAPA for the exhaust hangers. Just get the band clamps from them and save the shipping.

You need 4 ea to do the system.

Do not put the downpipe on first. Install the pipe that goes around the Tcase then the down pipe. The Tcase pipe comes in from the front of the vehicle.

That is a butt style clamp for butting two pipes of the same size together, that's not what you want. You want preformed band clamps (also available at your local truck parts store).

I buy just the regular ones for all my trucks. They stretch and look like wanna's picture after I am done cranking on them. Its just easier not having to stock different styles. The ones wanna posted are better for what you are looking to do.

I guess $13-15 is just the going rate.

I swear I replied to this thread earlier, disappearing post? Maybe it's just me.
