question about installing band clamps

had my muffler installed today and the muffler shop goofed. they charged me for band claps but did not use them- i noticed that when i climbed under the truck about an hour ago. called the muffler shop and they said they would credit me the whole price of install for their mistake and to have a merry x-mas!- since i told them i could install them myself. but i just got thinking- am i able to seperate a band clamp enough ( without destroying it ) to slip it over the pipe to intall???? or would the muffler have to come off to slide the clamp over the pipe?

no, the band clamps come flat and you simply wrap them around the pipe and put the bolts and nuts on and tighten them really tight. one clamp should take no more than a couple minutes to install.

I use a brand called EZ-Seal just wrap around and tighten 2 nuts and bolts. I use a impact gun to tighten the nuts and bolts.

some come preformed [mostly the lap joint type] but you can still easially spread them to fit around the pipe...
