SRW D250 and DRW D350 front spindles
Well I bought another truck, a 93 D350 extended cab dually. The plan was to use its rust free body to swap onto my W350 but for now I am going to drive it and slowly prep the W350 for the transplant.
the new truck has some issues, the upper ball joint had popped out and is kinda tacked back in with a couple bolts welded over the top to try and hold it in place. It was a very rough repair and doesn't look good at all.
So I also have a D250 SRW with a completely new front end with ball joints and bushings. If I understand it correctly then the upper and lower control arms and ball joints should all be the same for the 4,000 lb front?
I read the hubs and bearing are different, being larger for the DRW trucks.
So the question is are the spindles the same size for both SRW 250 and DRW 350 fronts? is the spindle the same with the inside diameter of the bearings the same for both trucks just larger outer diameter on the bearings and hub?
If they are the same then I will plan to unbolt the control arm bushings from the frame and swap the entire section over then just put the dually hubs and bearings back on the spindle from the other truck and be all set. Just want to be sure that its all the same stuff behind the hubs, if not then I guess I could swap the entire front over and run regular wheels on front and carry two spares.
For now I think I will weld it all back together and see if the rest of the truck falls apart before I do any swapping. Everything should be fine but the maintenance and repairs the PO did were not very good at all.
