Speedo quit.....

Speedo quit.....

The speedo on my 93 w250 quit today for some reason....wasn't working when I left the house this AM.....truck has been sitting for about 3 weeks......stopped to get diesel a few miles into the trip.....and then after noticed it was working again for the rest of the trip....any ideas?.....is the cable going?.......are they a pain to replace?....thanks for any insight...

There is no cable they are electronic. Check on the side of the tcase there should be a vehicle speed sensor there that has a 3 wire connector. Check to make sure it is connected properly and not a dirty connection. Also some times the nut that holds the vss on will loosen up and the speedo will quit working also.

I had the lil piece of square stock that drives the gear round off and cause it not to work also.

A sacrificial allen wrench that was ground square got it going again....
