Speedo works but the Odometer quit
Speedo works but the Odometer quit
New failure on my rig.
The speedo still works but the odometer has quit turning over.
This is a problem because my fuel gauge has almost never worked, and I typically use mileage to figure out how much fuel i have left.
Anybody seen this one before?
Any tricks to the fix? Or should I just get the screwdriver out and start digging?
I am tempted to just tear the rig all the way down to nothing, and part out the frame/body, and then throw the whole drive train in an FJ45 Cruiser with a flat bed. Drive train is awesome, but the rest of the truck is falling apart.
Thanks,

I think its a waste to fix the 92 and earlier clusters. My dad paid like $40 for those stupid little gears, put it in the 91 and it worked for 3 months then the little one broke again..
Find a 93 cluster with close to same mileage and put it in, they changed EVERYTHING on the 93 clusters, i compared a 93 cluster to a 92 cluster and they got rid of the little gears that stripped for big honkin' gears that are 1/8" thick and they redesigned the whole internals of the speedo/odo.
We put a 93 cluster in our 91 and the speedo reads EXACTLY 10mph fast...Prob due to the fact that the truck the cluster was removed from had 3.54 gears and our 91 has 3.07 gears...but either way now the speedo works
For some stupid reason you may have the 93 *new and improved* cluster in your 92... So here's how you know!
This is the 93 improved cluster, Notice how the numbers are in the ODO are closer together and different FONT.

And this is the 90-92 cluster that always broke the gears..YOU CAN SEE THERES LITTLE GAPS BETWEEN THE NUMBERS

, I think dodge did it if your ODO broke under warranty or did it in 93 only because of earlier issues. all 93 gassers i've seen have the newer cluster too. I've never seen a 90-92 with the newer cluster like pictured.
I've also never seen a 93 w/broken ODO, and my dad has owned alot of 93's. The 93 we have now has 350k on the clock and it works great...
Hope this helps, possible sticky? I have pics of internal differences. give me some time to find 'em
