Even a couple hundred pounds help. I put about 300 lbs in the back of mine for the winter and it even made a difference

I installed new springs the whole way around my truck a couple of years ago. The ride in the back end was so severe that when I hit large bumps, rough roads and so on the back tires would come right off of the ground.

I said nuts to that and removed 3 springs out of each of the back packs and put in Firestone air bags. I use the compressor and the gauge and have a ride like a 2 wheel drive half ton.

I had over a dozen people tell me the plastic air lines would break in our cold climate. Bunk!!!! They hold up awesome.

It's nice to be able to control the ride from the cab while you are hauling different loads.

Maybe something to consider. I got the whole setup second hand for $300.00.

yes weight does help. I just put about 400 lbs of tractor weights in the corners of my bed for the winter and it helped the ride and traction quite a bit. I still need to figure out a way to strap them down though...

If you would like to try something else for weight.

I got a hold of a old front end loader tube and filled it with sand. I use two pieces 1/4" x 1 1/2" flat steel and rolled the tube a couple of times on each end and bolted the steel to the rolls to keep them tight. Looks like a big "U". Then I welded a chunk of 3/8" chain to connect the ends. That way I can use my tractor, engine hoist or chain fell to get the weight out my box. It weighs around 450lbs and will not slide on the box floor. I do have it Rhino lined.

I you have to stop quick or smoke something your tractor weights will more than likely rearrange the back of your cab.

Hope this helps.

Mine's the same way. It bucks me like crazy sometimes. I can especially hear the rears come off the ground when I'm accelerating over the bumps and ruts in the road. The idea of taking out 3 springs and adding air bags for that price or even purchasing a new air bag kit sounds like a good solution. Mainly since you describe your ride being equivalent to a 2wd 1/2 ton . Also, being able to control the ride height from payload to payload is a nice addition to having the air bags. Thanks for the idea!!

hey-Hey!!!,
A Miller SyncroWave 250 TIG machine will also do wonders for the ride... In the winter and it snows I just shovel the driveway trimmings( what I can't get easily with the tractor ) into the back ov the bed.
cheers,
Douglas

I cut a tractor trailer tire tube in half, then filled with sand. Call them my truck sausages.... They weigh about 300lbs each...one over each wheel in the back...no problems with traction.
