It was also nice to pop the hood after the trip and not see brake fluid dripping off the booster due to the leaking cover.

I checked all the hubs and brakes with a temp. gun after 20 miles. They where all similar low temps, which is a good sign the new brake shoes and new bearings are happy.

The drivers door speaker was non functional again, so I might have to pop the door panel off and check the connection at the speaker.

I was glad I parked it with a full tank so I could just drive right past the fuel stations with the big $5.29 for diesel sign out front!

I haven’t been able to go to Mexico since the pandemic started so one good thing is that my 93 gallon auxiliary fuel tank that is full of now really cheap fuel. The main tank is three quarters full. Just blind luck 😎💰🇧🇲

Blind luck is better than no luck at all.

I parked all of the summer rigs last fall with full tanks of fuel thinking the prices where not going to go down. I sure did not expect to see prices over $5 for diesel this spring though!

Carrier bearings in the rear axle where swapped out for a fresh set. Caught it in time as one bearing was just starting to spin.
Cleaned things up then installed the cover and some fresh fluid. Ready for another summer.

Spring is here!

How did you know one was spinning? I assume they make a noise of some sort? Not yet experienced that myself.

Growling at the wheel is how I noticed mine.

It was loud enough to hear it when I drove on a highway.

Put the truck up on jackstands, threw it in drive, and you could hear it just idling.

Not sure if Ollie had the same experience.

During last springs pre season check up, it was noted that the ring gear had play in it.
This was done by prying on the ring gear through the diff fill plug.

It had just stated to eat up a shim. I had a shim pack left over, we used a new shim out of after checking thickness for a match..

Been 50-60F and dry for days, so The roads where clear and dry.
I rolled Poncho out of the shop and took it out to town, to visit dad in the hospital.

The drive in and out of town in the old W250, was" just what the doctor ordered". It is always really nice after a long winter to get back to driving the old 1st gen.

Hard to drive one and not have a smile on your face.

Sorry to hear your dad is in the hospital, hope all goes well.

Took Poncho up the the MT for the last day of chair lift service of the season.

Got in 5 runs with friends on my snowboard. Saw a bunch of people I had not seen in many years, some now with a wife and / or kids I had never met.

The other friends I used to ski and snowboard together with on weekends, with our kids as they grew up, 3-15 years ago [Pre Covid]. Well we exchanged stories about what our kids are doing now over an IPA.
The snow is melting fast and it looks like spring is trying to happen.

Happy to be driving the old 1st gen again.

Been driving Poncho as much as I can the past few weeks.
Most of the trips, I hate to say it, have been to go visit my dad in hospital. After almost all of April in hospital, he is back home as of a few days ago.
He just had his 80th birthday and seems to be doing okay.

Yesterday, I did take Poncho down the the local taco truck that just opened for the summer. Nice to sit on the tailgate with the dog and have lunch and a brew in the sunshine.
All the snow is gone out of my yard though the MT tops still have snow on them.

Good to hear about pops. Each day at a time. Since they dropped the price $30k, maybe he'll find a new neighbor soon, and have some extra to relax and enjoy.

Hopefully it dries up where you are, as I bet there's some mud around.

Good to hear he is back home, that should help him a lot. Hopefully he can enjoy the spring, and maybe even a taco!

Dad passed a few days after my last post. Hence the reason I have not posted in weeks.
