Rear Main Seal Install

Apololgize in advance for being dense -- please confirm the following is correct? TIA.
1. After removing old seal and cleaning area thoroughly, first step is to separate the white plastic installation sleeve from the seal and push the white installation sleeve onto the crank hub.
2. Step two is install the new seal onto the crank hub.
3. Step three is to remove the white plastic installation sleeve.
4. Step four is to drive the new seal to proper depth using the round metal seal driver supplied by Cummins.
5. Step five is to remove the metal seal driver.
6. Last step is to replace the flywheel/flexplate.

Agreed. I have installed three new rear mains and everyone went in without trouble. I used brakeKleen on a rag and my pocket screwdriver to clean thoroughly around the crank surface. The depth tool is perfect. The only issue is once I had a little trouble of the seal popping out one side at a time when I was tapping on the depth tool. Laying on my side and using my entire hand to hold the depth tool flush on the seal. I hit the skin between my index finger and thumb. A blood bubble immediately formed the size of a dime. Hurt like a. Other than that not a drop sense on any of the three I have installed.

im going to do a rear main soon when I do a clutch, and I am curious if anyone hear about using second gen rear main seals because they are better. I read this somewhere on here.... no sure if it was a line of crap or not but now I can not find it.
