Depending on where the rust is, you can get away with replacing just the roof skin with a good one....

I've seen the whole front of the roof rotted across, but the gutter itself was perfect. in that case you can just replace the skin with a clean used one

otherwise, replace the whole roof. cut it at the pillars

While you're at it, pull the seat out, shorten the pillars, and drop the roofline to where you have 3" of side glass and windshield...

Now we can call it a lowrider, highboy ..... if' it's 4x4, that is...

My entire roof is made of "USC All metal" LOL

The surface rust had thinned the metal so bad I had to skim coat the whole thing with this all metal stuff, and the front of the roof was solid foam not even smoothed out thanks to the previous owner....But it looks good now.

Also, It seems that only the Diesels have the gutters that rot out, Our theory is the engine shakes and rattles so much the sealent cracks and allows water and moisture to get in

out of the 20 or so 1st gens we've had. 6 or 7 of them being gassers and NONE of them having roof rot, but most of the diesels did.

Today i looked at a 93 W350 gasser dually PLOW TRUCK with 200k miles on it, and the roof was mint. the rest of the cab was gone, but the roof was perfect...
